The School Turama
Meaning 'to stand up and shine', Tūrama is a multi-purpose indoor sports facility, which allows students to enjoy sporting activities no matter what the weather. Large enough to be set up for internationally sized netball, basketball or tennis courts.
Built in 2022, Turama is a all weather multi sport facility adjacent to the Technology & design and Performing and Visual arts faculties. The huge covered space hosts three full size netball courts with easy access to the fields and the adjacent classroom spaces.
To support teaching and learning and co-curricular sport the facility has acoustic conditioning to control the level of ambient sound, a public address system and high output lighting so the space is usable at night.
The old gym is the original gymnasium for Kristin school. Containing the PE & Health staff office, a specialist PE and health classroom and the sports office. The high ceiling and full size basketball court see the gym used for basketball, volleyball and badminton for school and external use.
